Significant Contribution |
I had also received the “Women Scientist-A Fellowship” from Department of Science and Technology and had carried out the project entitled “Analysis of host defense mechanisms and evasion strategies by rotaviruses with focus on pattern recognition receptors” as the project investigator (PI) from 2015-2018 at ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata. I had been certified for the oral presentation in 20th International Conference of European Society for Clinical Virology held at Italy in September 2017, on the topic entitled “Emerging G3 Rotaviruses in Eastern India Revealed Inter-Genogroup Recombination and Changes in Antigenic Epitopes during 2014-2016”. Recently in March 2023, I have also presented my research work on SARS-CoV-2 at the Cell Press Symposium, Spain entitled “SARS-CoV-2 in transition: differential immunopathogenesis triggered by specific host molecular determinants”. I have also received the Best Poster Presentation Award on the topic "Crosstalk of SARS-CoV-2 mutants with host miRNAs in triggering differential disease outcome" at the Conference “Biological Transactions: From Molecules to Organisms” held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in January 2023.

Bio |
I did my Bachelor’s in 2008 and Master’s in 2010, both in Zoology from the University of Burdwan and the University of Calcutta, respectively and had been awarded with the “UGC-Post Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holder: 2008-2010”. I had qualified both the National Eligibility Test (NET) and Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) and thereby joined ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata for my PhD. My research work was focused on the "genetic and molecular characterization of enteric viruses isolated from stool samples of children with acute gastroenteritis", and I was awarded with the PhD degree in 2019. I had also received the “DST-Women Scientist-A Fellowship” in 2015. Thereafter, I joined DBT-National Institute of BioMedical Genomics, Kalyani in 2021 as a “National Post-doctoral Fellow” and currently working on the “genomics of SARS-CoV-2” as well as “study of the host immuno-genetic determinants triggering COVID-19 disease severity”, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. I have published twelve research papers in reputed peer reviewed international journals, encompassing the biology of RNA viruses like SARS-CoV-2, Rotavirus, Influenza Virus H1N1, Norovirus as well as DNA virus like Adenovirus. I have also attended several national and international conferences and had received a travel award from the “European Society of Clinical Virology” in 2017. Furthermore, I am keen to carry forward my research on the infection biology of RNA viruses, with a special attention to the post-acute sequalae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (Long-COVID).
