Awards 1. Granted patent from Indian Patent Office for the process of extraction of novel anti-cancer compound from the marine sponge (Patent no 445702)-2023 2. Granted patent for designing porcelain teeth holder for teeth scaling (Patent no 336576001)-2021
Significant Contribution Among the first labs (International Center for Excellence in Research) in the world to research the immunological interactions of hookworm infection with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Elucidated the hookworm induced modulation of immune and inflammatory responses including adipocytokines in type 2 diabetes mellitus and demonstrated that hookworm have a protective effect against the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus and its complications.
Bio Dr. Bindu completed her Master of Philosophy in Microbiology in 2013 and earned her Doctoral degree in Microbiology in 2021 from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She also holds an Advanced Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Quality Assurance in Microbiology. She started her career as a Lecturer in 2009 at National Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Erode and she has over a decade of experience as an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at CMS College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore. Being passionate about Research, Dr. Bindu joined in International Center for Excellence in Research, Chennai as a Senior Research Fellow in 2021 and then as a Research Associate in 2022 and works on the immunology of infectious diseases prevalent in India, including helminth infections, TB, and COVID-19.
