Over the past 16 years Dr. Yadav has established herself as a globally renowned plant data scientist, by means of path breaking contributions to issues of global significance (crop productivity, ecosystem conservation, food security), as well as fundamental aspects of plant science (defense mechanisms, memory and communication).

Bio |
Dr. Gitanjali Yadav is a Scientist at NIPGR, New Delhi holding Adjunct roles as Professor of Data Science at the IISER Bhopal, India and Trustee of St Edmund's College, Cambridge University, U.K. She has recently completed a five year Lectureship at the University of Cambridge, on a Joint Deputation Program between India and the U.K. She is a Computational Biologist, an expert in Genomics and Structural Bioinformatics, with applications in food security and Conservation. For almost two decades, she has been handling the IT Systems administration at NIPGR. She has a diverse educational background with a Ph.D. in Immunology, a Master's degree in Biomedical Research and a Graduate degree in Botany, all from Indian Universities.
Dr. Yadav has received several awards in recognition of her scientific achievements, and promotes science as a way of life to students in schools and colleges. She has been a mentor for Women in Science as well as an ambassador of Indian young scientists, at several National and International fora. During the Coronavirus Pandemic, she started conducting a series of free online training and remote internship programs in Data Science and Complex Networks, under the name “Protocols From Home”, in order to help students pick up vital skills in Computational Biology and make the best use of their time under global lockdown.
