Prof. Tapati Chakraborti did BSc (Chemistry) from (Bethune College, University of Calcutta) and MSc (Biochemistry) from the University of Calcutta. After that she did her PhD from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. She did her post doctoral research at the Department of Neurosciences, University of Florida, at Gainesville, Florida, USA as a fellow of the American Heart Association during 1999-2002. Her main research area comprises understanding the mechanisms of proteases in kala-azar (Visceral leishmaniasis) infection and its therapeutic aspects by isolating natural plant products. Additionally, she did notable research on the role of cellular and subcellular proteases and calcium signalling phenomena in lung diseases. She is involved in teaching and research in the past twenty five years. She has received different research grants of Govt of India as well as Govt. of West Bengal. She has published ninety four in original research papers, seventeen review articles, twenty book chapters in different international journals of repute. She also edited four books published by Springer-Nature
